Nashville is home to two dozen colleges and universities. Kimpton Aertson Hotel is nestled amid four great ones: Vanderbilt University, Tennessee State University, Belmont University and Lipscomb University. All have rich histories, captivating campuses and are within 10 minutes from our hotel.
Located directly across the street from the hotel, the private Vanderbilt University was established in 1873 with a gift of $1 million by Cornelius Vanderbilt — the business magnate and direct descendent of Dutch immigrant Jan Aertson, whom we honor in our hotel’s name.
Founded in 1912, Tennessee State University boasts Oprah Winfrey as an alum. TSU’s main campus is situated on about 500 wooded acres along the Cumberland River, while the downtown Avon Williams campus is closer to Nashville’s business district.
Belmont University is the largest Christian university in the state, founded in 1890. Students here can study in the Curb College of Entertainment & Music Business and even major in songwriting. Its biggest rival, 125-year-old Lipscomb University, is located just 3.5 miles from out hotel in the Green Hills neighborhood.
If you’re visiting students at any of these excellent schools, Kimpton Aertson Hotel would love to welcome you. No SAT scores required.
